What is the Jamaica Association of Young Professionals?

The JAYP is an organization that seeks to facilitate the holistic development of a very important group of individuals in Jamaica and in the Diaspora- Young Professionals. We are: building a social network; providing management and leadership training for professionals; celebrating the commitment, dedication and hard work of young professionals through our award programme; engaging in community development as well as research and policy development inter alia.

What are the membership criteria?

Members are required to:

• Be in a profession or pursuing a career;
• Be between the ages of 20 and 45;
• Be a Jamaican citizen or a member of the Diaspora;
• Maintain the highest level of professionalism and integrity; and
• Be guided by the regulations of the organisation.

The Golden Star Awards for Excellence

This programme provides an avenue to celebrate the performance of young professionals. Each month a young professional of excellence is selected from a list of nominees. The Awardee:  is profiled and featured in a two page Gleaner Advertisement; receives a Blackberry Smart Phone, a Golden Stars Award Trophy and Basket of Goodies as well as the opportunity to vie for the young professional of the year and many more.

JAYP Business Mixer

This is an exciting opportunity for professionals in the corporate world to network, share best practices, while being entertained by games, winning fantastic prizes as they enjoy great music. We customize entertainment for you.

Leadership Institute

The organization supports the development of each young professional and provides management and leadership training. The Institute will be training over 1200 young professionals per annum in the dynamics of Organizational and Global Leadership and Management inter alia.

Planning and Research

Our JAYP Research Consortium is a very dynamics institution. It flags areas that are important to the development of the organization, as well as generate and express view on issues that affects young professionals in particular and the nation in general. There are a number of commentaries and articles published discussing issues in the public domain.

Outreach and Community Development

The Association believes in developing Jamaica, this we undertake through our outreach and community development programmes. We have embarked on a campaign to protect our children against violence aired on TVJ and CVM. Our focus is children and youth. We are inviting professionals to sign up to be mentors. Changing the future begins now!
